Settling In

Our aim is to promote a safe and happy environment for your child, giving parents peace of mind whilst they are away from their children.

We encourage caring and sharing and offer a stimulating, enjoyable time. Parents are always welcome, and we encourage you to be involved as much as possible. We operate an open door policy, enabling you to pop in when it suits you.

Before your child starts nursery we have a settling in period of 2 short sessions, which we find helps enormously. You will be given a questionnaire to complete – “All about Me” – giving us valuable information about your child.

If you prefer to stay with your child you are welcome to do so, but the majority of children settle very quickly. However, occasionally a little one may require more TLC. Always be assured we would never leave a child in distress, and we would always let you know if we have any concerns.

Our settling in process ensures that children are catered for and their individual needs are met.

Parental involvement

Klas children’s nursery emphasises the importance of parental involvement in the daily routine and offers:

  • Daily contact, informing parents/carers of themes within the nursery, sending letters home encouraging support and inclusion
  • Regular newsletters and progress reports
  • If you have a particular interest or skill you wish to share with the children, we are always open to suggestions

The children’s learning and development is shared via Tapestry. Tapestry is a secure online system, used to create individual E’ learning  journals to record the experiences and development of each child in our setting. Tapestry allows us to work with parents and carers to share information and record the children’s play and learning, both in and outside of our setting.
